Word

Time required for your report (1:00 - 1:30 min)

Purpose:

The word of the week is offered as an opportunity to expand the memberships vocabulary and is also a fun way to encourage the membership to use the word of the week throughout the meeting. Therefore, it should be tied into the theme, not be obscure, yet not be too common either.

When a member uses the word of the week, the club will acknowledge its use with a parliamentary clap.

The Ah counter will also offer a 5 cents credit against the use of the ah and ohms used during the meeting to member who use the word of the week throughout the meeting (See Ah counter)

Before the Meeting:

Prepare a suitable word which preferably ties into the meetings theme. Write it large enough letters that the word can be visible from the back of the room. Print your word, its part of speech and a brief definition. Prepare a sentence showing how the word is used.

At the Meeting:

Give the word, spell it, define it and use it in a sentence.

Explain that every time the word of the week is used during the meeting, members are rewarded with a parliamentary clap and are also credited 5 cents by the Ah Counter.
